Manchester City academy chief Brian Marwood made a personal check on the £20 million rated teenager, the Daily Mail reports.
He apparently went to France last week to watch the 18-year-old play in Lille’s 2-1 defeat against Rennes.
However, Man City are not alone in their interest with both the Foxes and Everton thought to be keen on the 6ft2ins midfielder.
Soumare signed for Lille from Paris Saint- Germain in the summer.
Despite his age, the midfielder has
managed to break into the first team squad of the French club.
The teenager’s strength and mobility are said to be reminiscent of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
