Frenkie De Jong was part of the Ajax side
that reached the Europa League final last
season
The central midfielder, 20, has broken
into the first team and has sparked a
tug-of-war to get him to the Premier
League, with Chelsea also monitoring his
situation.
Clubs reckon they can get the youngster
for a bargain £5million this January as De
Jong has just 18 months left on his
current deal.
Ajax could hold out for a bigger fee or
offer De Jong fresh terms after he
emerged as a massive prospect in the
last year.
De Jong started at Willem II before
moving to Ajax and playing for their
youth team in the second-tier, where he
won the Talent of the Season award.
Pep Guardiola hopes to beat Arsenal to De
Jong's signature in January
Arsene Wenger reckons De Jong could
bolster Arsenal's first team if he joins in
next transfer winder
He also came on in the Europa League
final last season, against Manchester
United, when Ajax were chasing the
game, putting him on the radar of top
European clubs.
Both Wenger and Guardiola reckon he
can boost their first-team options for the
second half of the season.
De Jong has played for the Holland
Under-21s after progressing through
the youth teams and is expected to get a
full cap with his country looking to the
future after failing to reach the World
Cup.
He has made seven Eredivisie
appearances for Ajax this season,
including four starts.
