Koeman was sacked by Everton in October after a 5-2 defeat to Arsenal left the Merseyside club in the relegation zone.
The Dutchman, who had spent more than £140m on new signings in the summer, had
been in charge of the Toffees for 16 months.
He had previously spent a successful two- year spell in charge of Southampton,
guiding them to seventh and sixth-place finishes in the Premier League.
Now the 54-year-old is set to be given the chance to revive the fortunes of his national
side.
The Netherlands have failed to qualify for
the past two major tournaments and have
turned to Koeman after Dick Advocaat's
resignation at the end of last year.
Koeman won 78 caps for the Netherlands in
a distinguished player career and has
spoken in the past of his desire to manage
his country.
He will be unveiled as the new Oranje
manager next week, according to De
Telegraaf.
