Tyson Fury has received a huge boost inhis pursuit of returning to the ring with UKAD confirming his hearing will be heard next month.
Fury has been out of action since
becoming heavyweight world champion in 2015 after outpointing Wladimir Klitschko
in Germany. A mixture of personal issues and the failure for UKAD to hear his anti-doping case has
ensured an extended hiatus from his craft. But Brtiish Boxing Board of Control general secretary Robert Smith has confirmed that
he has now moved a step closer to obtaining his boxing license again. "December [for the hearing], that's true,"
Smith told Sky Sports.
"The reason why this has taken so long, so I have been led to believe, is because Mr Fury's legal team could not agree a date for
the recommencement of the hearing. They obviously now have, and the hearing will
recommence." Fury was charged with "the presence of a
prohibited substance" in his system in June 2016.
But despite his long spell of inactivity, he has reiterated his stance that he is still the man in the heavyweight division with The Ring Magazine belt, and therefore the lineage, still his, while the WBA Super and
IBF titles were stripped during his troubles outside the ring.
"Whoever wants to become the best heavyweight in the world will have to come through me first," Fury wrote on social
media. "The Ring Magazine belt = lineal heavyweight champion.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ring Magazine for standing by there
champion and I promise to defend with pride and honour. There's only one belt in boxing. The holy grail of boxing."
